Where We Work |
What to Expect |
Client Testimonials |
We are creative and practical people. Our first project was our own house where we were client, architect and builder.
|
Some architectural practices will organise projects on a production line basis, with the project starting with the practice principal, then being passed to a concept designer and then to an executive designer.
As a small practice, the person working on your design from start to finish will be one of us - and that brings the benefits of both continuity and our experience at all stages of a project. |
DesignWe are equally comfortable shaping the initial design of a project over a blank sheet of paper with a Client, or working with a Building Contractor on site to realise a project.
|
SustainabilityWhether we are painstakingly restoring an old building, or designing a new home, we adopt passive, low-energy design principles and seek to integrate low-carbon solutions and renewable technologies wherever possible.
|
DetailingWe are interested in detailing and craftsmanship and work with trusted Builders to achieve good quality yet cost effective design.

THE DESIGN PROCESS
The design process for a project is broken down into well established stages in what is called the 'RIBA Plan of Works'. We have included a basic overview of these stages for residential projects FEES Most architecture practices are set up to deal with a specific range of project values, and we generally get involved with projects with a construction value starting from around £100,000 + VAT up to around £2,000,000 + VAT. For smaller projects in Edinburgh, we recommend that Clients approach the Edinburgh Chartered Architects Network. Our fees are worked out on a project by project basis, but for a domestic project will typically range from around 8-15% of the ex VAT construction cost for a 'full' service, meaning from the start of initial design work to completion of building works on site. Although we provide a ‘full service’ for most of our projects, in some cases, a partial service is possible and our fees would be reduced to reflect this. |
