Morningside Extension, Edinburgh
This project reconfigured a Victorian terraced house by combining the kitchen and dining areas into an open plan family room connecting to the back garden.
MORNINGSIDE EXTENSION, EDINBURGH
This Victorian terraced house was in good condition, but the existing separate kitchen and dining spaces didn't allow for modern open plan family life. The design involved removing the separating wall between the two rooms and extending out into the garden to provide a garden room, with sliding folding doors to provide a better connection with the garden. A new large rooflight, between the dining and seating areas, brings natural light deep into the plan. The previously cold and damp WC and utility rooms were insulated and transformed into bright, warm spaces. The addition of the garden room, with underfloor heating, all insulated to current standards, has made the previously cold and dark spaces into a warm and inviting family hub.
